Pest and Disease Identification Workshop
Identifying Pests, Beneficial Insects, and Diseases in the Field
Vegetable IPM expert Joseph Ingerson-Mahar, from Rutgers University, will cover basic information about how to identify pests and diseases in the field. He will be walking the fields at Asbury Village Farm working with attendees on identifying beneficial insects in addition to pests and diseases. Farmer Steve Zwier of Asbury Village Farm practices a no-spray philosophy, which should afford attendees a variety of pests, beneficial insects, and diseases to look for. Susan Brookman from the New Jersey Invasive Species Strike Team will be present to give a real-time demo of their newly-developed app for smartphones.
