Detailed Description of Position: Farm Crew
Full-season Vegetable Crew are involved in all aspects of farm production: seeding, planting, cultivating, mulching, harvesting, washing and distributing produce, and occasionally caring for and processing laying hens and meat birds. We work hard, have fun and have a tight farmily - join us. Farm Crew is a paid, hourly position. We are seeking both Full Time and Part Time crew members.
Farm to Market Liaison is a full-time, paid, hourly position, with a focus on managing the flow of operations between vegetable production and market sales. The Farm to Market Liaison is involved in specific aspects of farm production including: harvesting, washing and distributing produce, as well as aspects of running the Farm Market and CSA operation including: stocking produce, record keeping, and sales.
Description of Farm: Willowsford Farm is a 300 acre, non-certified organic farm ten minutes south of Leesburg, Virginia and thirty miles west of Washington, DC. We grow mixed vegetables, raise livestock for eggs and meat, and manage a small herd of goats who perform land management services. We sell through a diversified CSA and Farm Stand. Our CSA is 280 members and growing. As farmers we work to promote soil health, care for our livestock holistically and produce nutritious, flavorful food.
Our farm is part of a unique multi-functional landscape that supports agricultural production, ecological services, and residential neighborhoods.
These are paid farm work positions. The farm crew season is April through the end of October. Shared housing available, and veggies and food from the farm stand, and cooking classes and community events.

*One full season on a vegetable farm or similar experience. Other demonstrated skills or work ethic also considered.
*Strong communication skills, willingness to ask questions and learn from your mistakes. Although we are not a teaching farm, we do encourage our employees to understand how and why a job is done in a particular way. Desire to learn our systems and how to work efficiently within them makes a more successful team.
*Ability to work independently and follow direction, usually we work together on projects but sometimes crew members are expected to work alone. During these times we expect crew members to maintain the same level of rigor and thoughtfulness while completing a task.
*Attention to detail and commitment to efficiency. We work to make all jobs as efficient as possible. We ask that everyone follow our example to uphold this standard.
