Educational Opportunities: We recognize the hard work that interns do and part of the compensation that we offer is passing along the knowledge we have gained in our combined 20+ years of farming. Additionally, Interns are encouraged to visit other farms during the season. We are members of PASA, NOFA-NJ CRAFT and on the board of the Foodshed Alliance, and will pass along information on farm tours and workshops as we learn of them.
Stipend: $9/hour plus produce from the farm during months worked

Internship details: We are looking for 1 or 2 interns to work 20 to 30 hours a week. Schedule will be Tuesday through Saturday. We are flexible with the exact schedule to be worked, however we definitely need help on Tuesdays, Fridays and some Saturdays. Tasks will vary according to the day and time during the season, but interns will help with a variety of tasks including greenhouse work, harvesting, washing/packing, planting, weeding, and staffing the farmers market. We also have a CSA workshare program, and interns will have the opportunity to work with our members weekly.
Description of Farm: Kittatinny Mountain Farm grows Certified Organic produce, herbs and flowers for a small CSA and 2 weekend farmers markets. The farm is owned and operated by David Zelov and Danielle Szepi and is entering it’s 7th year of production. We cultivate about 1.5 acres of vegetables and are located on leased land at Fair Acres Farm, a nursery and garden center in Wantage, NJ. We are located in a beautiful corner of Sussex County, close to High Point State Park, Stokes State Forest, and the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Additionally we are only a one and a half hour drive from NYC.
Skills: Experience is helpful but not necessary. We require your enthusiasm and desire to learn our methods of farming as well as a strong work ethic, reliability, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to work at a a quick pace, and to be able to work outside in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, wind and rain.
