Learn the latest of what works grow high quality organic fruit from experts Emily Brown-Rosen of Organic Research Associates, JimTravis, a Penn State Plant Pathologist and Don Jantzi from The Rodale Institute.

Bio-diesel and Waste Vegetable Oil as Fuel

Thinking about alternative fuels for the farm? Learn to convert a diesel engine to run on waste vegetable oil. Dave Rosenstrauss of Fossil Free Fuel will share 4 years of experience converting diesel engines and collecting and filtering used oil. We will look at converted car and discuss  how to apply the system to tractors and other diesel engines to save money

Topics include mailing/membership list database management, public relations, marketing, farm market and harvest management, equipment upgrades and employee management and recruitment.

 

Tuesday, August 8: Heirloom Tomato Tasting  @ Muth Family Farm

 

Bob Muth is growing 20 heirloom tomatoes varieties this year.  Join his CSA members for a blind taste test and practical discussion on production techniques, varying yields, and overall favorites. Special guests include Joe Cavanaugh from the Garden State Heirloom Seed Society, & Pete Nitsche and Wes Kline from Rutgers Cooperative Research & Ext.

North Slope Farm is located at 386 Rock Rd. East in Lambertville, NJ. From the South/95  take the Route 31 North exit.Travel approximately 7 miles and make a left onto Route 579/Rocktown-Lambertville Rd.  Make a right on Rock Rd. East.The farm will be the first driveway on your right.  From the North, take Route 31 South to Route 579.  Make a right onto 579/Rocktown-Lambertville Rd. Make a right onto Rock Rd. East.  The Farm will be the first driveway on your right.

 

Honey Brook Organic Farm is located at 260 Wargo Road, Pennington, NJ 08534.  Take 95 North or South to Route 31 North.  At Circle, head to Pennington.  At light, turn right.  Follow for 2 miles and make left onto Wargo Road.  Farm is

 ¼ mile on right.  Follow down driveway.

 

Muth Family Farm is located at 1639 Pitman-Downer Road in Williamstown, NJ 08094.  From the NJ Turnpike, take the  Swedesboro exit (#2).  Turn right onto Rt 322 East; follow signs and stay on Rt 322 East towards Glassboro.  Go over Rt. 55 overpass in Richwood, make a Right at the 5th light onto Rt. 47 South.    At next light make a Left onto New Street (Rt. 689).  Travel for 1 mile to next traffic light and make a Right onto Pitman-Downer Road. Travel ¼ mile to Box #1639.  Park  on left.  From Route 55, get off at exit 50A and take Rt. 322 East and follow directions above.  From PA, take the Commodore Barry into NJ.  Follow directions above from Rt. 322.
